SUPPORT YOUNG COLLECTORS - STAMP ACTIVE NETWORK - 2017.
1) STANLEY GIBBONS CONTINUES SPONSORSHIP OF
THE NATIONAL YOUTH STAMP COMPETITIONS
THE NATIONAL YOUTH STAMP COMPETITIONS
Stanley Gibbons have announced their continuing support for the Stamp Active Network with sponsorship of the 2017 national youth stamp competitions. They have been regular supporters of the competitions since 2000 when the British Youth Stamp Championships were first launched.
Commenting on this year’s sponsorship, Claudia Cadete, Marketing Manager, said “Stanley Gibbons are delighted to continue to promote youth stamp collecting through Stamp Active. The Championships are the premier event for serious young philatelists with the very best going on to represent the UK in international exhibitions. The standards have been high in recent years and there have been an increased number of first -time entrants.”
Young collectors can begin with the one page competition, progress to the Stamp Active Competition with a minimum of 4 pages and then go on to Championship level with a minimum of 16 pages. The entries in the 2017 British Youth Stamp Championships will be on display at Autumn Stampex along with the entries for the “My Favourite Things” one page national competition.

2) STAMP ACTIVE NEEDS MORE HELP
The Stamp Active Network is urgently seeking more people to get involved to support youth philately in the UK. Stamp Active is a voluntary organisation that promotes stamp collecting to children across the UK. There are a number of administrative roles to be filled as well as practical help that can be given. Commenting on the problems, John Davies, Chairman of Stamp Active, said “Even if you can only spare one hour to help out on the stand at Spring or Autumn Stampex, we really could do with more help. At the moment, I feel we are over-reliant on a small number of people, so please get involved to support the future of philately in the UK.”
