CHANGE OF VENUE
The Society moved from Bromley to Beckenham in 1964, first using the ground floor in the Public Hall, and the old Council Hall for some meetings, (mainly the AGM and summer meetings).
From 1987 it used the main hall, in the Beckenham Public Halls, with for a few more years the small hall for the AGM and summer meetings. However for the past twenty-five years or so it has used the main hall for all meetings until these premises were closed due to the Covid restrictions.
Despite the restrictions being relaxed it has proved impossible for the Hall’s management to confirm our forward bookings, so the Society has reluctantly found new premises at the
MELVIN HALLS COMMUNITY CENTRE,
MELVIN ROAD,
PENGE,
LONDON, SE20 8EU.
This provides all the facilities the Society needs and has its own car park, is close to 4 bus routes, (75, 197, 356 and 358) and within walking distance of 4 others, (157, 194, 227, and 354) and also the Avenue Road Tram-link stop, and Anerley Station.
With the exception of already planned “visiting” speaker ZOOM meetings, the Society will meet here commencing on the 22nd September 2021, at 7.30pm, and have dates booked until August 10th 2022.
For most of its existence, Melvin Halls was the home of Penge Stamp Club, before that club having to move due to the hall refurbishment in the 1980s.
