THE SOCIETY’S COMPETITIONS
All material must be the entrant’s own property, mounted on sheets of normal size. Entries will consist of 8 sheets, (except the President’s Competition & Nugent Cup), and must be received by the Honorary Competition Secretary no later than 7.50pm at the appropriate meeting. Judges will disregard catalogue value. A trophy, to be held for one year, will be awarded to the winners of each competition, and of each individual class comprising the Open Competitions. On return of the trophy a bronze medal will be presented. The Committee may choose entries from the competitions for submission to the respective Kent Federation Competitions, subject to the owners’ consents. THE PRESIDENT’S COMPETITION Open to all Members, (including previous winners in this or the Open competitions during the last three years, provided their entry is not from the same country, subject, or theme). This trophy is to be awarded to the best entry taken straight from a collection. It is intended that the entry shall show exactly how the collection is generally written up, and the quality of the material that forms the collection. It is not meant to be a serious study showing great philatelic knowledge. The entry shall be up to 12 sheets and will be judged by the President who will particularly |
TOM DAVIS CRYSTAL BOWL The Society’s top award will be presented to the entrant obtaining the highest marks for an entry in the Open and Thematic Competitions THE OPEN COMPETITIONS Each entrant may submit one entry of 8 sheets in each of the three classes – Stamps; Postal History; Aero-philately. To be marked on the following basis: Knowledge of Subject……………...40 marks Presentation………………………...30 do. Condition…………………………. .20 do. Originality……………………… …10 do. THE THEMATIC COMPETITON To be marked on the following basis: - Plan, Development, Treatment, Implementation & Structure………..40 marks Thematic/Philatelic Knowledge, Study and Research…………………30 do. Condition and Rarity………………. 20 do. Presentation…………………………10 do.
